Why use Speed CortisolTM ? |
---|
Cortisol is secreted by the adrenal glands under the control of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis. The measurement of cortisol in the blood contributes to the diagnosis and follow-up of hyperadrenocorticism (Cushing's syndrome) and hypoadrenocorticism (Addison's disease) in dogs. |
When to use Speed CortisolTM ? |
---|
Speed Cortisol TM can be used for both diagnosis and follow-up in order to adapt treatment. Cushing's syndrome most commonly affects dogs aged 6 years or older and females. Addison's disease is more common in young dogs (less than 6 years old), and females. Almost 85% of dogs with pituitary hyperadrenocorticism have a high rate of cortisol after stimulation with ACTH.
